Mobile Sight Centre

We have one specially adapted vehicle which is we call our Mobile Sight Centre, which travels the county parking up at central locations.

The specially adapted vehicle is a free service for everyone, bringing advice, information and support to visually impaired people and their carers.

Regular visits are made to towns and villages across Northamptonshire, as well as outlining hospital eye departments and clinics. Fred Cannon, our Mobile Information Officer also gives regular talks and demonstrations on request to care homes and sheltered housing, day centres and community groups. We carry a large display of practical specialist aids and equipment on the unit, designed to help alleviate the everyday difficulties visually impaired people encounter.

You will find aids to help with reading and writing, cooking, telling the time, large print items and many more. Unfortunately we can’t stock everything, especially larger items but we do have various catalogues and can direct you to our Kettering and Northampton Sight Centres or order them in.

Need Information?

No matter what sight loss information you are seeking, our trained Information Officer can provide you with expert advice and information about sight related issues and talk about all of our services. We can also put visitors in touch local and national organisations and services that can provide assistance.
