northamptonshire association for the blind (nab) is a totally independent charity working exclusively in Northamptonshire to help visually impaired people.
We were formed in 1896 and since then have developed a whole range of vitally important services which improve the lives of the 12,000 visually impaired people who live in the county.
In essence our mission is:"To identify, promote and respond to the needs of Visually Impaired People (VIP’s) within Northamptonshire". And we do this by offering practical help wherever and whenever it is needed. Through:
-
Information and support
-
Encouragement of active participation in a range of activities
-
Removal of obstacles to social isolation providing access to other support systems
-
Offering information and advice in dealing with sight deficiency
-
Residential and respite care
-
Raising awareness of issues affecting visually impaired people amongst the general public and business community
